American talent crowned its newest winner!
After weeks of competition, Maya were declared champions of the competition series of the 17th season. With the grand prize, the Lebanese female dance troupe takes home a million dollar prize and a headlining performance at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
“They’re ready for Vegas – I’d go watch them,” a fellow judge Heidi Klum he told PEOPLE shortly after the live performance. “I think they’re amazing. It’s the costumes. It’s the wow moments. It’s like rote learning, it haunts you. It hypnotizes you in a way.”

“I think by far, for me personally, it’s probably the most impressive, beautiful acting I’ve seen in years on this show,” the judge Howie Mandel added. “It’s not like anything you can describe. It was incredible. It was just beautiful and mesmerizing and hypnotizing and powerful. Then you consider where they’re from and what the culture is, what they’re struggling with and what women are like anyway, all over the world. They should be the poster men for women’s empowerment.”
About the positive reception, the founder of the group, Nadim Cherfan, previously told PEOPLE: “[It’s] absolutely amazing. We have to swallow. We couldn’t swallow those feelings, but hearing these comments from these judges gave us a really big confidence boost.”

On Wednesday, the group performed another superb performance for the finals. Cherfan later told PEOPLE they couldn’t feel “more proud of themselves” for all they’ve accomplished.
“Every moment of this experience has been really memorable, from the Golden Buzzer to the semi-finals to now the final,” he said. “It’s not about the title anymore. It’s about a huge bigger message for our people to make them believe in themselves and to give hope to our country that is going into a dark time.”
